If you aren’t Jewish, then you’re what the Bible calls a “Gentile.” Most folks who follow the Jewish Messiah, Jesus, are just that—Gentiles. And as Gentiles, most of us don’t always understand Jewish Scripture, the Old Testament. This is particularly true when it comes to reading the prophetic books of the Bible. It’s helpful, however, to keep in mind that the Old Testament makes the first announcements of Messiah’s coming and ministry. And few prophetic books have more prophecies about Messiah Jesus than the book of Isaiah. Original outline copyright ˝ 2010 and Message Mate ˝ 2011 by Charles R. Swindoll, Inc.

“Buckle up and keep your hands inside the vehicle at all times.” Anyone who’s ever ridden a roller coaster has heard instructions like these. Well, buckle up and keep your hands inside the vehicle at all times, because you’re about to go on the wildest ride of your life. This ride will involve time travel, taking you all the way past human history, the creation of Adam and Eve, and the beginning of the universe. This ride—this journey—will transport you to eternity past, to a time before time began. Are you ready? It’ll require you to use your imagination and think, but it’s a trip worth making." 11-22-2015 - #realitycheck Week #5 - Rest
Monday Nov 23, 2015
Monday Nov 23, 2015
Topic Breakdown: You might be addicted to social media if, all the time, you find yourself looking at your phone, rather than talking to people that are there. If it bings, if you can’t help but look at it, you’ve got to know all the time…In fact, there’s a new phobia that doctors are now dealing with to help people. It’s a very serious problem. It’s called “nomophobia,” and it’s not a joke. It’s nomophobia, and nomo implies what you think it would be. It’s the fear of not being connected through a mobile device – nomophobia. In fact, studies show that about 66 percent of people have extreme anxiety if they lose connection, if their batteries fail, or if their phone is not with them. For those who are 18 to 24, the number jumps to 76 percent of people. Over three in four in that age group have a massive fear of not being connected online. 80 percent of teenagers sleep with their phone.
THE POINT: Learn to be disconnected and still in the presence of God...and listen.

11-15-2015 - #realitycheck Week #4 - Compassion
Sunday Nov 15, 2015
Sunday Nov 15, 2015
Topic Breakdown: Studies show that, over the last 20 years, we actually care considerably less about other people. And these studies argue that technology overwhelms us with all the information in the world that we feel like we simply cannot care. And yet, God calls us to be compassionate. We’re going to talk about compassion, and specifically, how and why social media and technology are actually causing people to care less about other people, which, honestly, as followers of Christ, is totally and completely unacceptable. In fact, the University of Michigan did a comprehensive study on 14,000 college students between the years 1979 and 2009. And what they found was that there was a drastic decline in empathy. In fact, the results of this massive study showed that we care 40 percent less about other people than we did in the 1980s – 40 percent.
THE POINT: We need to understand that true compassion demands action. To say that you care, but not act, is to not care at all.

11-08-2015 - #realitycheck Week #3 - Authenticity
Tuesday Nov 10, 2015
Tuesday Nov 10, 2015
**Poor Audio Quality** Please bear with us for this week only...we will have our issues fixed by next week.
Topic Breakdown: For the first time in history, we can filter everything we show people. We can self-edit what we’re going to say. The more filtered our lives are, the more difficult it is for us to be authentic. If you think about it, the more filtered our lives become and the more often we show others the “me” we want them to see, the more difficult it is to be authentic. Culturally, we’re becoming so trained to filter in the picture, and then edit, perfectly, the caption and only then will we send it out there so the rest of the world can affirm us, but is that really our authentic selves. People are starting to fear and avoid unfiltered communication.
THE POINT: When you turn to the Lord, the veil is taken away. You are no longer living for the approval of people, but you are living from the approval of God! You recognize, I am acceptable to God, through Jesus. I am the righteousness of God, in Christ. Christ is sufficient, all in all.

11-01-2015 - #realitycheck Week #2 - Relationships
Tuesday Nov 03, 2015
Tuesday Nov 03, 2015
Topic Breakdown: When we post something, we get immediate feedback, and, therefore, we feel close to people. But as one person said, social media really gives us the illusion of companionship, without the demands of friendship. And so, we can be very comfortable relating to people online, but many of us, we’re longing for something more face-to-face.
THE POINT: They’re going to know that we are disciples by the way we love and treat one another, with the sacrificial love of Jesus inside of our hearts. They will know that we are disciples by how we love one another.

10-25-2015 - #realitycheck Week #1 - Contentment
Monday Oct 26, 2015
Monday Oct 26, 2015
Topic Breakdown: We’re going to talk about contentment. We’re going to look at the problem that when we compare with others, we become dissatisfied and discontented in our own hearts. We’re going to talk about discontentment and envy, and how we become content in Christ. Some people believe that discontentment has never been a bigger problem, in the history of the world, than it is today. Never before have so many people had so much, and yet, want so much more.
THE POINT: The secret of contentment is not found in what I have or do not have. The secret of contentment is found in Christ, and Christ alone.

Stand Strong: Building Your Life on God's Promises - Week 6 - God’s Promise of a new Home
THE BIBLE MEETS LIFE: None of us have an idyllic life. We’re pulled down by failures, disappointing relationships, and problems in a world full of sin and insecurity. Thankfully, this world is not all there is. The closing chapters of the Book of Revelation show us that God provides a permanent home where He will dwell with those in His family. It is a home with no health issues, insecurities, or sin. In Christ, we are promised the perfect home with Him.
THE POINT: A life in Christ means a life with Christ forever.

Stand Strong: Building Your Life on God's Promises - Week 5 - God’s Promise of Victory
THE BIBLE MEETS LIFE: All of us would love a life where everything turns out just as we desire. Unfortunately, reality paints a different picture. Sometimes what we encounter is a minor inconvenience, and sometimes it is a life-changing catastrophe. Regardless of our circumstances, we can still experience good things from God. In fact, God can use those very difficulties to work His goodness into our lives.
THE POINT: God’s goodness and love overcome life’s difficulties.
